A Person, Not an Agency

Why a person and not an agency: how I choose, test and keep my list of Zadar's best activity operators. The story behind the site.

This site exists because of a €22 Kornati ticket. I watched friends buy the 'cheap' boat tour online, then get asked for €16 park fee in cash at boarding, €20 for lunch, and come home having spent more than the all-inclusive boat cost — for a worse day. Somebody should just tell visitors who the good operators are and what things really cost. So that's what I do. I live in Zadar, I test the operators, and I send you to the ones I'd book for my own family.

How I choose the operators on this site

Every operator I recommend has been personally tested — I've been out on their boats, paddled their routes, ridden their quads, eaten their tour lunches. My checklist is boring and strict: boats and equipment maintained, licences and insurance in place, departures on time, the price quoted being the price charged, and staff who treat guests well. Operators who add surprise fees get one strike; the list stays short on purpose. When you book through me you're not buying from a catalogue — you're borrowing my shortlist.

Testing never really ends, either. Prices shift, skippers change boats, a great crew gets complacent — so I re-check the list every season and after any guest tells me something I don't like hearing. A name on this site is a current verdict, not a lifetime appointment, and that's precisely what keeps it worth borrowing.

How I make money (the transparent version)

You never pay me. When I send a guest to an operator, the operator pays me a referral commission out of their normal price — the same money they'd otherwise pay a hotel concierge or an international booking platform, which typically takes 20 to 25 percent. Because my cut is smaller and there's no platform in the middle, you pay the genuine local rate, and often less than the walk-up price. If an operator ever tried to charge you extra because you came through me, they'd be off the list the same day.

There's no subscription, no premium tier, no sponsored placements — operators can't pay their way onto the site, and none of them sees these pages before you do. The list is short, earned, and entirely unbought. That's the whole business model, and it works because travellers tell their friends when someone is straight with them.

What I promise — and what I don't

I promise real prices before you book — including the park fees, docking fees, fuel and deposits that other listings hide — honest advice even when it costs me a sale (there is no zipline in Paklenica, whatever the internet says), and a human reply to every message. I don't promise the cheapest price on the internet — the cheapest boat in Zadar's harbour is cheap for a reason — and I don't run the tours myself. What I sell is judgement: someone on the ground whose only interest is that you go home having had the week you hoped for.

FAQ

No — I'm an independent local concierge. I don't run tours; I test operators, keep a short list of the good ones, and connect you directly. You pay the operator at the local rate.

The operator pays me a referral commission from their standard price — the same arrangement hotel concierges have, minus the inflated platform fees. Your price is the local rate, confirmed on WhatsApp before you commit.

Message me and I get involved directly — that's the advantage of booking through a person rather than a platform. I only keep operators who fix problems properly; it's part of how they stay on my list.

No — I test them, choose them and stand behind them, but the tours are run by the licensed local operators on my list. That's what keeps my judgement independent: I have no boat of my own to fill.
